Exercise Configuring External Access
Overall Goal To show how to configure FME for External Access
Demonstrates How to configure firewall rules and set up FME to use an external hostname.

In order to make FME publicly accessible a public domain name is required, then the server hosting FME needs to have its firewall configured to allow traffic to reach the FME Server itself. Lastly FME by default will use the hostname of the server it runs on, which is typically different to the public domain name it will be reached on. FME Services can be configured to respond on this URL when returning download results etc.

If configured to use an external hostname this hostname also needs to be resolvable internally for FME to work both internally and externally. If this is not the case services would need to be created for both the internal and external names.

CONGRATULATIONS

The tasks above demonstrates how you can open up the firewall and set FME's hostname to work with an external domain name.
